Temporary post until  30/09/2026 due to grant funding with the possibility of an extension beyond this date.

Our ambition is that everyone in Carmarthenshire will have access to full fibre or mobile broadband capable of offering speeds of up to 1gbps, 30 times faster than superfast broadband. We are looking for someone to join our team to help us make that happen. You will be working closely with our most poorly connected communities and businesses, providing support and advice so they can access better broadband through several UK and Welsh Government schemes.

You will liaise with mobile and fibre operators, Welsh and UK Government, local members, and internal departments to ensure that any issues are addressed and that projects are completed on schedule. There is a lot of work being done in this space and you will need to engage with both government and suppliers to ensure that we stay at the forefront of any new programmes and opportunities.

Working with the regional team you will help shape and deliver a targeted multi-channel communication plan and organise events to raise awareness of these schemes and encourage take-up of gigabit capable connectivity when it becomes available.
You do not need a technical background to be the ideal candidate for this role. You do need to understand the economic and social importance of digital connectivity, be able to communicate this effectively and build relationships across a range of stakeholders.

You will be part of a small team within the council but will work alongside a broader regional team with colleagues in partner local authorities.

You will need a good level of conversational Welsh. Support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
