Temporary post until 31/03/2025 (with the possiblity of an extension dependent on funding).
 
We are looking for a flexible, motivated and creative person to join the Welsh Language Development Teacher Service to realise the requirements of Carmarthenshire’s Welsh in Education Strategic Plan. 
 
The post involves teaching and training Welsh as a First and as a Second Language mainly in secondary schools in the county. Motivational teaching plans will need to be prepared to raise and maintain language standards across the county to ensure schools move along the language continuum. The successful candidate will need to be able to confidently model good practice, inspire Headteachers, Teachers, learning assistants and pupils, create bespoke resources as well as provide training sessions.
 
Having strong IT skills is essential.   
 
In accordance with the Sarter Iaith, the Tîm Datblygu’r Gymraeg promote the Welsh language and culture within and outside the classroom. This requires enthusiasm and an awareness of Welsh and Welsh language events, publications and resources to achieve this. First-hand experience of implementing the Siarter Iaith in Secondary schools would be advantageous.
 
The ability to communicate naturally and to write accurately through the medium of Welsh is essential for this job.

The successful applicant will need to be registered with the Education Workforce Council for Wales before appointment.  
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be requested for this post.
 
You will need to be able to communicate fluently in Welsh. Reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
