This is a fantastic opportunity to join The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association as a Training & Behaviour Advisor for our Reading Community Team.

The role
The Training & Behaviour Advisor helps people with sight loss to live the life they choose by facilitating and supporting the roll out and maintenance of Guide Dogs’ Standardised training for Excellent Partnerships (STEP) and Puppy Raising for Excellent Partnerships (PREP).

With support from the regional Training and Behaviour Consultant, the TBA provides expert training and behaviour advice and practical support to staff, clients and volunteers responsible for handling, socialising and training puppies and dogs.

Who we’re looking for
Essential

You will have experience of working with dogs specifically in relation to the shaping of behaviours and task acquisition relevant to Guide Dogs’ and their clients, experience of coaching and training individuals and groups of people in practical skills and theoretical knowledge, and practical, hands on experience within the field of behaviour modification and animal training at both a practitioner and supervisor level.

Desirable
It would be beneficial to have experience of supporting elements of organisational change or continuous improvement.

This role is 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week, with 26 days paid holiday (excluding bank holidays) a year. As a charity, we’re always keen to support flexible working as best we can.
