Location: High Peak with travel across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire
Salary: £17,879 per annum

Hours: 35 hours per week

The role
The Driver/ Support worker, known to Guide Dogs as an Access Assistant, enables a visually impaired person to carry out their role by undertaking tasks that they are unable to complete to help them be successful in their role.

In this role of Access Assistant, you will be supporting an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMSp). Tasks will include driving the member of staff throughout their region (covering Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire) in a Guide Dogs vehicle as well as providing administrative support. 

Our Orientation and Mobility Service can help and support clients to learn new techniques that could increase their confidence and ability to move round safely and efficiently and achieve their goals.

Who we’re looking for
You will hold a full UK driving licence and have experience of working with blind and partially sighted people. Strong communication, planning and organisation skills and the ability to deal with confidential issues sensitively and with total integrity are essential for this role. As the role will also include administrative support, we will require the Access Assistant to be a confident user of Microsoft Office.

This role is Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week, with 26 days paid holiday (excluding bank holidays) a year. A flexible approach with a willingness to work outside of core hours and away from home is required. As a charity, we’re always keen to support flexible working as best we can.
