Job Title: Qualified Habilitation Specialist

Location: Bristol covering South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset 

Salary: £27,472 to £30,000 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent 

The role

Working as part of the Community Team, you will work with children, young people and their families, parents and carers across the South West. You will be delivering specialist habilitation training around mobility and life skills to bring independence and confidence to blind and partially sighted children and young people. 

Reporting to the Operations Manager - Skills, Information and Support, you will work shoulder-to-shoulder with other professionals including speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists and other organisations including local authorities.

Who we’re looking for

You will be a Qualified Habilitation Specialist with recent and relevant Children and Young People experience. In order to be successful in this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Ability to liaise effectively with other professionals/agencies
  • Can evidence the ability to work safely with children and young people.
  • Ability to work directly with children and young people and their parents/guardians to carry out effective habilitation programmes, including low vision training
  • Knowledge of range of resources available to Children & Young People with visual impairment

This role is 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week, with 26 days paid holiday (excluding bank holidays) a year. As a charity, we’re always keen to support flexible working as best we can.
