Carlton Adventure located in the tranquil village of Carlton-in-Cleveland forms part of Hartlepool Borough Council’s long standing commitment to outdoor provision alongside the Outdoor Activities Team. The service is vibrant and energetic with growing prospects. As an authority we want to make Hartlepool and Carlton Adventure the best it possibly can be and require dedicated, driven and committed staff to help us achieve our aim.
Outdoor activities play a key role and is an important factor in young people’s physical and mental wellbeing, whilst contributing positively in so many other ways to our lives. The Senior Activity Instructor (Outdoor Activities) will therefore play an important role in supporting Outdoor provision to improve young people’s lives through a focus on reducing physical inactivity, providing experiences in unique settings, whilst developing key skills such as confidence, and learning to work as a team.
This post will report to the Senior Activity Co-ordinator, working closely with the senior management team and wider Outdoor Activities Team. Applicants should possess WGL or ML (summer) plus one of SPA / BCU Level 2 (open) or equivalent with training towards other NGB’s from the desirable list minimum of an NGB Level 2 or equivalent. Previous experience in Outdoor instruction / provision will be essential.
The working week will be varied and link to the requirements of the role. The post holder will predominantly be based from Carlton Adventure, although will support with delivery taking place at other venues such as the Lake District and Summerhill Country Park.The successful candidate must be passionate about the value and impact that outdoor activity provision can have, be knowledgeable about the sector and be able to demonstrate professionally, how you’ve been able to make a difference to people’s lives, through outdoor activity.
