Children’s and Joint Commissioning Services have an exciting opportunity for a Residential Social Care Officer to join our experienced staff team at St David’s Children’s Residential Setting within Hartlepool. The home is a two bed setting and is judged as good by Ofsted. The aim of the home is to provide high quality care for children aged 11 – 18 years who may display some challenging behaviours and require a safe and caring environment to live in.

As a Residential Social Care Officer you will possess a passion for working with children and support them to develop skills enabling them to build a positive future. You will support children to access and participate in activities, trips and hobbies.

In addition you will be expected to display a strong team spirit, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to work across internal departments and with external agencies.

Applicants must have

NVQ / QCF Level 3 Residential Childcare or equivalent, or a willingness to complete this qualification when in post.

Experience of working with children and young people

Previous experience of working in a supportive capacity to give practical assistance to children and their families

Previous experience of working in a supportive environment with children or adults  

A positive attitude and ability to understand trauma informed practice

A willingness to work unsocial hours which will include early mornings, evenings, sleep overs, weekends and bank holidays.
