Hartlepool Council is a Good council and has
high aspirations and ambitious outcomes for its SEND population. The SEND team
is highly regarded by families, schools and peers. We are looking to build further
on best practice across our system through the implementation of the SEND Green
Paper alongside a new approach to Inclusive education. The council is part of a
system that recognises that all pupils, and particularly those with SEND,
require the best provision. This requires working closely with educational
settings with lived experience of the challenges and opportunities for enabling
schools to ensure excellent outcomes for children with special educational
needs and disabilities.
An opportunity has arisen for a newly created position of Senior Adviser for Inclusive Learning and SEND in the Hartlepool Borough Council Education Service. Initially the post will be based on a two year Fixed Term Contract, or a secondment will be considered, with the possibility of extending.
We are looking for an educational senior leader
with significant recent experience as a senior leader within a school and
background in classroom practice with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) who is passionate
about making a difference and would like the opportunity to develop. The successful
candidate would be leading the Hartlepool Council SEND Team and working
directly both in and alongside schools to support and challenge the SEND and
Inclusion agenda. This is a critical role to support the current team of SEND
officers. The role will report directly to the Assistant Director of Education.
The role will include collaborating with a diverse range of schools and
settings, support services, young people with SEND and their families. You will
work closely with school clusters as well as individual schools where you may
support Headteachers, SENDCOs and teachers, this may include providing
training.
You must be knowledgeable on relevant legislation and child development, passionate about working with children and young people and committed to providing an exceptional service. It is essential that you have excellent communication skills.
We are committed to providing high quality
services and offer an excellent working environment valuing supervision,
training and opportunities for professional development.
