Description
The Business Assurance Department are looking for a Health and Safety Support Manager to join our Health and Safety Team. To apply you must be based near Heathrow Airport, spending your working day on different corporate sites throughout Greater London and the South. Travel to other Aviation sites may be required. Occasional site visits to non-aviation sites will be required. Driving licence and own transportation is essential. You will report directly to the BA Dept.
You will assist the H&S Management Team to co-ordinate, support and advise the Business on aspects with regards to Health and Safety. You will assist the team to establish, manage, and monitor standards, processes, communications, training, and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with Health and Safety are adhered to.
To become a successful member of the Business Assurance team you will need to be flexible and adaptable, with an assertive but calm demeanour. You should be self-motivated and most definitely a team player. A good sense of humour is essential.
You will work mainly within your region, however there may be occasions that H&S personnel are required to assist in alternative areas.
Full time, flexible working scheduled around the operations, not set at 9-5.
Place of work – Various, mainly LHR and covering the South of England.
Salary – Starting rate of £33,920 rising to £37,100 after 1 year, plus car allowance of £4800 per annum
Probationary period – 6 months
Role & responsibilities:
In coordination with the H&S Management -
·Daily monitoring of the operation within your region.
·Liaison with onsite andregional management
·Ensure all employees within the region hold correct H&S training with appropriate sign offs and records.
·Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated, and communicated.
·Assist with the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
·Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated, and recommended improvements implemented.
·Ensure that safety inspections are carried out including fire drills and fire alarms
·Manage lone working procedures.
·To drive a positive health and safety culture fostering our ongoing safety champions program and behavioural safety.
·To offer ideas and safety initiatives and contribute to newsletters and bulletins.
·Liaise with external clients / contracts under the supervision of H&S Management
·Full interaction with internal and online systems.
·Produce regular reports and follow up on corrective action where necessary
·Gathering, analysing, and reporting on key H&S data/statistics
·Other duties as required
Person Specification:
·Nebosh qualified
·Experience of working in a H&S position
·A genuine interest in H&S
·Professional approach, coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
·Excellent IT skills, extremely confident in dealing with all types of computer applications, along with very good verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
·Excellent knowledge of Microsoft packages
·Excellent report writing skills
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·Ability to work with software packages.
·Competent and comfortable using Microsoft Teams
·Good timekeeping and attendance record
·Own transportation is essential
·Neat and tidy appearance
·Resided in UK for 3+ years
