G10 £40,476 - £43,693 per annum
If you’re an experienced, committed, creative and resilient social worker, we have an exciting opportunity within our Assessment and Intervention Team.
We’re looking for a qualified social worker to support our continuous improvement journey towards best practice, as evidenced within our recent positive inspection.

Within the Assessment and Intervention Team we offer protected caseloads. This gives Social Care staff the opportunity to work closely with families and children to effect change. In addition, we offer flexible working and an excellent work-life balance including remote working.

Why join the Assessment and Intervention Team as a Children’s Social Worker?
The Assessment and Intervention Team consists of a mix of experienced Social Workers, newly qualified social workers and Family Support workers who all contribute to the supportive and nurturing team environment. Additional support and mentoring is provided by an experienced Team Manager and three experienced ATMs. The new bright and spacious office facility can only be described as excellent and facilitates effective team working, with the atmosphere between all the teams being one of mutual respect and support in the shared vision of improving outcomes for the children in Wrexham, who they support. We are a relatively small department with all staff on one floor in one building which makes it much easier to form professional relationships.
The Assessment and Intervention Team Social Workers will be responsible for undertaking comprehensive assessment, child impact reports, and Section 37. Were appropriate you will be responsible for completing reports for initial child protection conferences, and instigating urgent care proceedings in a small number of cases.
You will take the lead in ensuring all statutory requirements are undertaken, this will include visits, care planning and other related functions. A successful candidate will need good assessment and report writing skills, and to be analytical in determine how best to support the young people on their case load.

This Experienced Social Worker post in the Assessment and Intervention Team attracts a recruitment incentive payment of £2,996 as a welcome to the council. In certain conditions an additional retentionincentive payment of £2,996 may also applicable on the anniversary of your appointment if you remain in service in an eligible role/ team. Thus making up the Recruitment and Retention incentive payment of £5,992.
The payment is pro rata for part time employees. The payment is subject to normal employee deductions e.g. pension, NI and Tax and other terms and conditions apply, please see the Recruitment & Retention Payment Guidance note for more details.
An Enhanced DBS check & Social Care Wales registration is required for this position.
