Description

Up to £39,808 per annum.
Full time, 37 hours per week, permanent contract to start in August 2024.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our highly successful team as a Lecturer of Sport. The successful candidate will have the experience and ability to teach across all sport courses on offer within the department. This includes sports coaching, sports science and personal training courses. For the successful candidate, a willingness to teach within the Uniformed Protective Services courses is required. Moreover, a willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to the wider college sport enrichment programme and departmental trips and visits is essential.

Applicants should be educated to degree level in Sport or Physical Education, should hold a teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards one) and ideally relevant lecturer/teacher experience within Sport/PE. A student-centred approach to teaching and learning and a commitment to high achievement are essential. Candidates with a Health & Fitness background in gym instructing and personal training are also encouraged to apply as the department looks to maximise the opportunities gained from the colleges’ partnership with Wave Leisure at Eastbourne Sports Park.

The vacancy is also an excellent opportunity for any teacher in a pre-16 teaching environment, who is seeking a fresh and rewarding experience as a lecturer at college. Whilst previous experience working in a college environment is an advantage, the department has an excellent reputation for nurturing, supporting and training Sport/PE graduates in their first lecturing/teaching post. The successful candidate will be motivated and committed to ensure the best possible outcomes for their students, and for them to develop the knowledge and skills needed to progress into employment or higher education.

If required, an informal visit to the campus can be arranged for prospective candidates.

We can offer you:

•    A competitive salary, a wide range of generous benefits, as well as flexible working opportunities.
•    Rewarding employment in a high performing, professional environment, working with over 1,200 like-minded and friendly colleagues.
•    Continuing Professional Development, with access to funded teaching qualifications, apprenticeships and a range of other training courses to support career development.
•    The opportunity to make a difference to the lives of students of all ages within the largest Further Education (FE) College in East Sussex (judged GOOD by Ofsted in 2021).

This post is subject to a DBS check.
