Hartlepool is a vibrant and energetic town with growing prospects. As an authority we want to make Hartlepool the best it possibly can be and want dedicated, driven and committed staff to help us achieve that.

This exciting role requires you to part of the development and delivery of Hartlepool’s Staying Close provision which will support young people who have lived in their children’s home or alternative supported accommodation to receive additional support to help them transition into adulthood and get them ready to live on their own.

This means you will be responsible for working with others to drive forward the vision for Staying Close. Working within the Staying Close team, you will work directly with the young people who are ‘Staying Close’ or ready to move on from their children’s homes into their own home. You will help the young people develop the knowledge and skills they need to have a ‘place called home’, develop life skills and navigate through life as an adult supporting them to build trusting relationships.

You will complement the Through Care Team bringing that bit more for young people so they have the extra support when they need it.

Due to the needs of some of our young people, we aim to deliver a service that is available to them over 7 days a week with support being available outside of normal working hours, therefore we require candidates who can be flexible to meet the service requirements and be willing to work unsocial hours which could include early mornings, evenings, sleep overs, weekends and bank holidays.

You should hold or be willing to work towards a level 3 qualification, or equivalent, in Social Care, or supporting children and young people.

Hartlepool Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This post is subject to safer recruitment measures, including an enhanced DBS barring list check

For further information please contact Lisa Cushlow, Head of Service for Children in Our Care and Care Leavers  on 01429 523961.

Closing date: 27 November 2023, midnight
