Are you passionate about making a difference for children, families and people who use our services? Do you want to influence practice and be part of developing the next generation of social workers? This post is in the Workforce Development team in Hartlepool, which is a vibrant and energetic town with growing prospects. As an authority we want to make Hartlepool the best it can be and want dedicated, driven and committed staff to help us achieve that.
In Hartlepool our practice model is relationship and strength based, underpinned by the principles of signs of safety. Children and families are at the heart of everything that we do here. To support our approach, we are looking to employ an experienced, dynamic, motivated and forward thinking social worker to support the delivery of the ASYE and Social Work Apprentice programme across child and adult services. You will facilitate Group and one to one Supervision for the programmes, undertake focused 1:1 sessions with NQSWs and Apprentices, support the completion of NQSW development plans and reviews and Apprentice documentation. You will moderate and quality assure NQSW portfolios, undertake NQSW practice observations and mentor students undertaking social work apprenticeships. You will support the embedding of our strengths based approach to practice across the department via coaching, training and modelling of practice.
You must be child centred, be able to champion best practice and be confident in ensuring that the best possible family led plans are being implemented for children, families and individuals. You will have experience of providing supervision, building productive relationships and of managing risk effectively.
We were recently rated Outstanding in our Inspection of Local Authority Children’s Services (ILACS). Inspectors found that “Senior leaders have not only sustained the good practice and leadership seen at the last inspection, they have been relentless in driving further progress and improvements”. Additionally the report detailed that “The workforce has access to an extensive training offer. The local authority is investing well in ‘growing their own’ social workers with investment in national recruitment and step-up programmes. Students are well supported to ‘flourish safely’. There has been an improved focus on family networks and children’s voices. Newly qualified social workers are well supported through a well established assessed and supported year in employment programme”.
You will be part of a hard-working, enthusiastic, committed and supportive team where supervision, training and opportunities for professional development are valued.
For further information or an informal discussion regarding the post please contact Julie Taylor, Workforce Development Team Manager, on 01429 523875.
Hartlepool Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the community. This post is subject to safer recruitment measures, including a DBS check, which the successful applicant will need to complete within 7 days of a successful interview.
Closing date: 24th June 2024.
Interviews Friday 5th July 2024.
