The borough is bordered on the east by the North Sea with much of the coast recognised as internationally important for its bird species and protected as a Special Protection Area site.  Inland is a rolling agricultural landscape interspersed with a number of small and fragmented, but nevertheless diverse and important, wildlife habitats including 6 Local Nature Reserves and 52 non-statutory Local Sites.

 

We are seeking an Ecologist, looking to start or develop their career in local government.  Based within the Heritage and Open Spaces Service this post offers an opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge through mentoring by experienced ecologists.  They will support you in the initial months of your work with key aspects of the role including reviewing planning applications and advising on policy.
