Hartlepool is a vibrant and energetic town with growing prospects. As an authority we want to make Hartlepool the best it possibly can be and want dedicated, driven and committed staff to help us achieve that.

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated lawyer to join the Council’s Legal Services Department as a Litigation Solicitor. The successful applicant will provide advice to internal teams such as education, trading standards, licensing and anti-social behaviour; prepare casework for submission at, and conducting cases in, Civil and Criminal Courts.

You will need to be a confident advocate who can work to strict and often conflicting deadlines. Recent experience of prosecutions or criminal advocacy in any capacity, whether gained in a local authority or private practice, would be preferable. Applicants undertaking similar work or who are newly qualified with relevant experience would also be welcome.

We offer a supportive environment to grow and develop your career along with a competitive salary and a range of benefits including:

·        Local Government Pension Scheme

·        24 days holiday plus public holidays

·        Flexitime scheme (upto 13 days additional leave per annum and flexible start and finish times, subject to managers approval)

·        Hybrid Working (work from home and two mandatory days in the Office on days to be agreed with manager)

For further information please contact Neil Wilson on 01429 284 383.
