Hartlepool is a vibrant and energetic town with growing prospects. As an authority we want to make Hartlepool the best it possibly can be and want dedicated, driven and committed staff to help us achieve that.
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and committed seasonal Beach Lifeguards who will be welcomed by our experienced Beach Lifeguard Team. We provide beach safety advice, observation and supervision of beach users at lifeguard patrolled beach at Seaton Carew during the school summer holidays, including weekends. Our aim is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for visitors at our beaches.
Whilst on duty it is essential that you always remain alert and professional in order to provide constant surveillance of all activities in the lifeguard patrolled zone and adjacent areas of the beach. In the event of an emergency, you will need to be relied on, be able to remain calm, manage the situation with confidence and be capable of correctly administering any necessary first aid treatment.
Beach lifeguards need to be physically fit to fulfil the role and assessment criteria, this includes good swimming ability. Candidates must hold a current Royal Lifesaving Society National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification. To demonstrate good swimming ability, you will be required to undertake a pool swim of 400 metres, which must be achieved in 8 minutes or under. We strongly advise potential candidates to train prior to the 400m swim test.
If you would like help to get online or to complete an application form or would like to access training to upskill yourself, then support is available from the Council’s Jobs & Skills Service.
