Hartlepool Borough Council is seeking a passionate and experienced Strategic Development Manager to lead the exciting redevelopment of the Museum of Hartlepool and the re-opening of the PS Wingfield Castle as part of the Tides of Change project. This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of our local heritage, ensuring the successful delivery of high-profile projects that celebrate and preserve Hartlepool’s history.
Tides of Change is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to secure development funding to progress our ambitions for the Museum of Hartlepool, PS Wingfield Castle support the regeneration of Hartlepool’s historic waterfront.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic development of the Tides of Change project, managing a dedicated team.
- Oversee the redevelopment of the Museum of Hartlepool and its collections, ensuring alignment with the vision of the project.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and documentation while liaising with external partners and stakeholders.
- Develop and implement Activity and Interpretation Plans for the Museum and Wingfield Castle.
- Coordinate marketing, communications, and fundraising activities to support the project’s objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, media, and key external organizations.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has significant project management experience in heritage, museum, or cultural sectors.
- Is highly organized with strong financial and performance management skills.
- Can lead and inspire teams, develop strategies, and collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Is passionate about preserving and promoting Hartlepool’s heritage.
This is a fixed term contract till November 2025.
The role is eligible for hybrid working.
