Hartlepool Borough Council is working hard to tackle inequalities, reduce poverty and improve the life chances of people living in the town. An opportunity has arisen to appoint a new Head of Housing Policy, Hardship and Welfare Services which will be a pivotal role in driving change and improvement and setting the strategic direction for these services.

 

The successful candidate will have lead responsibility for the development of the Council’s Housing Strategy 2025 – 2030 and the implementation of the delivery plan to support this.  You will also lead the housing advice and homelessness teams to ensure the delivery of a high quality and responsive service that meets statutory requirements.  Working with your team you will deliver the Council’s anti-poverty agenda, support those in greatest need through the provision of welfare support, benefits advice and the distribution of the Household Support Fund and lead the international resettlement schemes for people from abroad who make Hartlepool their home. 

 

The successful candidate will have the breadth of knowledge and understanding of the key areas of responsibility, demonstrate a person centred approach and be committed to partnership working with residents and partners.  You will be a dedicated and driven leader with management experience and a proven track record of planning, developing and delivering high quality services.  You will be organised, a good communicator and have the skills to lead in a complex system.
