Hartlepool is a vibrant and energetic town with growing prospects. As an authority we want to make Hartlepool the best it possibly can be and want dedicated, driven and committed staff to help us achieve that. Our most recent Ofsted ILAC inspection in 2024 and focused visit judged us as being ‘Outstanding’ regarding the effectiveness of our safeguarding services and outcomes for children and young people and for services to Children In Our Care.
Due to demand and growth, Children’s Joint Commissioning Services have an exciting opportunity for a Children’s Home Resource Manager to work alongside the Resource Manager already in post and share the responsibilities.
We currently have five children’s homes in Hartlepool, four of which are residential, the fifth offering residential and short break care. All four residential units are judged as ‘good’ by Ofsted with the home that offers short break care being judged as ‘outstanding’. There are plans in place to open a further two homes imminently.
The Resource Manager has responsibility for the provision, recruitment of staff, oversight of the homes and support to the Unit Managers to ensure that a high level of care and support is provided to a child or young person accessing the service. The Resource Manager supports the Unit Managers to ensure they are compliant and that all regulations are met, there is ongoing Ofsted preparation offered to each Unit Manager.
In addition to being responsible for the residential and short break care, the Resource Manager also has responsibility for management and delivery of Family Time that is offered to the children in our care and their families. There is also responsibility for a small community support team that provides support to our children with additional needs.
We are committed to providing high quality services to the children and young people that we care for and offer an excellent working environment valuing supervision, training and opportunities for professional development.
The post holder will display a strong team spirit, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, leadership skills and qualities and have the ability to work with parents / carers across internal departments and with external agencies.
Hartlepool Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure & Barring check.
For an informal discussion contact Lisa Cushlow, Head of Service – Children in Care and Care Leavers – 01429 523961.
