We are seeking someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with SEND. Someone who is proactive and compassionate, to support families in navigating the SEND system and accessing the services and support they need.
This is an exciting new post to join colleagues across the SEND & Inclusion teams in working directly with our parents of children with SEND.
The post holder will:
· Engage with families who have children with SEND and support them through navigating the system.
· Form meaningful relationships with young people and their families to discuss their situation, feelings and aspirations and define a way forward for them with regard to their future education and support they may need to be successful.
- Work with families to upskill and empower them, creating confidence and building trust. Hold regular updates with the family of the young person to discuss progress and any issues/needs and take remedial steps/ action where necessary.
The SEND Navigator will act as a trusted point of contact for parents, carers and professionals, helping them understand available pathways, services and entitlements.
The post holder will have recent and current experience and knowledge of the SEND system and hold a repertoire of strategies to communicate and engage with families of children with SEND.
The post-holder will be passionate about improving life chances for all young people and committed to supporting the needs of the Hartlepool child and their families.
