37 hours per week – Job Share opportunity will be considered
The post(s)
will be located within the Single Point of Access Team, Adult Social Care
Department, comprising of Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Social Care
Assessors and access to Third Sector agencies, based in the newly re-furbished
Crown Buildings, Chester Street, Wrexham.
As a First
Contact Advisor (FCA) you will be part of a multi-professional, supportive and
motivated team dedicated to providing a service to people who contact Wrexham
adult social services for information, advice or assistance. As a first contact advisor you will listen to
the individual to get an understanding of what is important to them, provide
bespoke, targeted information and advice and identify when someone will need a
more detailed assessment by wider members of the team. This is known as a “What
Matters” conversation where you identify outcomes for the individual.

Single Point of Access for adults has strong working links with the Wrexham
Wellbeing Hub and a wide range of internal and external services and
organisations and when a person makes contact with us they can be sure of
gaining the information, advice or assistance they need.
The role of an
FCA is one that demands excellent listening skills and a desire to support
people to find solutions that supports their independence. You will be highly
organised and able to respond effectively to challenging situations, be able to
work at pace and be focused on solving problems maintaining a positive approach
in all conversations by adopting a “strengths based” approach in line with the
Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act.
There will be
new challenges every day and you will need to be resilient and focused on
solving problems. In return you will be
supported to attend training and development opportunities and will be in
regular contact with a whole range of services and organisations to ensure you
are able to provide “What Matters” to the person.
You will have
the opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives and be in a role
where you will gain all the support and training you need, including daily
management support and benefit from excellent terms and conditions. The role
requires data inputting and therefore computer skills will be an advantage,
systems training will be provided.
The Department
has recently introduced a ‘Grow Your Own’ programme which gives employees the
opportunity to work towards gaining a Social Care Assessor, Social Work or
Occupational Therapist qualification.
