– £99,565 (under review, this may be extended when certain conditions
necessitate this) our relocation policy will also apply to this post.
Due to the
current post holder’s retirement we have an exciting opportunity to join our
Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive. You will
lead on the Finance and ICT portfolio area, as well as actively contributing to
our collective leadership goals to deliver long-term improvement and
sustainable services for Wrexham County Borough Council.
We have strong
record of robust fiscal management and well respected governance arrangements
and are looking for someone to take us further on this journey and build on
this success. You will play a pivotal
role in the delivery of the Council Plan’s priorities along with specific
responsibilities in its Organisation theme “to continue to modernise our
services and support a resilient Council.”
Being a principal
adviser to the Council on financial matters, we are seeking someone with
excellent visible leadership skills, the professional skills and knowledge to
build effective relationships and partnerships with a range of internal and
external stake holders.
You will advise
the Chief Executive and Elected Members on key issues and financial strategies,
as well as leading some of our most important change work and other partnership
projects. Expectations will be high both within and outside the Council but
collective accountability and strong support will be provided.
The portfolio includes
a number of important services that you will lead, develop and continue to
improve to ensure these are effective support services, whilst maintaining
strong financial and wider governance standards. You will need an understanding
of local government finances and the issues that face the portfolio areas.
As well as
being our lead finance professional the role includes the statutory position of
Section 151 Officer, which requires a relevant accountancy qualification, CIPFA
or equivalent.
You will have a proven track record of achievement in the delivery
of strategic outcomes in these portfolio areas and the skills to influence and
guide others. You will have the ability
to lead on cultural change, encouraging honest conversations throughout the
service and promoting a ‘One Council’ culture. If you have the ability to
provide strong financial, commercial and strategic support to the Council’s Officers
and Members in this pivotal role, we would welcome an application from you.
