Description

Public Protection Specialist Officer (Environmental Protection)

G11 £40,478 - £43,516

Welcome to Wrexham!

Situated on the North East Wales border, Wrexham has a vibrant centre, is surrounded by rural villages and includes the World Heritage site, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Wrexham town has recently been granted City status and currently has a number of ongoing regeneration initiatives.

The post is based within the Public Protection service in the Environmental Health and Housing Standards Team, comprising environmental protection (pollution control, air quality, statutory nuisances, etc) and housing standards (private sector housing).

The Council is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Environmental Health Officer with practical experience of environmental protection and public health work. Knowledge on serving notices, arranging for works to be carried out in default and preparing case files for prosecution is essential. Specialist knowledge and experience in one or more of the main areas of work (air quality; environmental permitting; acoustics; statutory nuisance) is desirable.

You will work as part of the team and support the Team Lead in the supervision and operation of specified work areas or projects. As agile working is part of the service thereis flexibility in the way work is carried out (flexible working, working from a variety of locations, home working, mobile working, etc).

The successful applicant will hold a BSc/BSc (Hons) or MSc in Environmental Health, a Diploma in Environmental Health or recognised equivalent, including EHRB. Chartered status registration and the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

The Council will support your continued professional development and encourage you to play a key role in the future development of the service.

We offer casual user car allowance and operate a Work Life Balance scheme. Hybrid/agile working between office and home is encouraged, and the department will soon move to fully refurbished offices offering a modern and spacious working environment.

In addition relocation expenses are payable in approved cases.
