Description
G07 £15.17 - £15.98 per hour
Wrexham County
Borough Council (WCBC) are currently looking to recruit casual Emergency Duty
Team (EDT) support workers to work alongside Social Workers to enable us to
continue to provide a good quality service that meets the needs of children,
young people, families etc. This role is diverse but primarily involves
children and young people who have come into the care of the local authority in
an emergency and require supporting until the next working day when day
services will take responsibility for them. Other roles include providing
support to parents, carers, children and young people to help them maintain
positive relationships and remain together as a family unit.
Ideally a
qualification in a related discipline would be preferable (or working towards a
qualification such as QCF L3, Social Work, Nursing) together with some
experience. However, we equally value applicants who can demonstrate
experience working with children and young people who may not initially possess
a related qualification as described.
EDT is a
regional statutory service, managed by WCBC, and covers Wrexham, Flintshire and
Denbighshire. We deal with situations that involve people in crisis and where
the situation needs to be dealt with immediately. Support workers will be on a
standby rota where they will receive payment of 2.5hrs (20:30- 08:30
weekday/weekend nights and 08:30-20:30 weekend/BH days) and an hourly rate if
they are called out to carry out a piece of work (over 2.5 hours in duration)
within that 12 hour period.
Because the
role is casual you are able to choose the shifts (subject to availability) that
fit in with any other work/family/study commitments you may have.

discussion please contact Vicky Valentine Team Manager 01978 298438 vicky.valentine@wrexham.gov.uk

gender, disability, sexuality, religious belief or age.
The Council is
committed to developing its bilingual workforce and welcomes applications from
candidates who demonstrate their capability to work in both English and
Welsh
