G09 £35,745 - £38,223 per annum (depending on skills and abilities)

The Role

An exciting role has arisen for a Technical Flood Risk Officer within the Environment and Technical Depart.

Responsibilities

           The post holder would be required to manage the risk of flooding from surface water, groundwater and ordinary watercourses, respond to planning and SAB applications regarding surface water flood risk within statutory timescales, process pre-application enquires, support Local Planning Authorities during plan making and also undertake a consenting and enforcement role on ordinary watercourses.

           Prepare and present reports on improvement, and flood management projects including reports to the Executive Board and other Committees to ensure a full understanding of decisions made are in accordance with adopted County Borough policies, guidelines and standards.

           Apply an understanding of flood management to relevant projects in compliance with latest standards and sustainable guidelines.

           The post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with internal and external partners, such as flood risk management authorities and Local Planning Authorities, across the County Borough of Wrexham to support partnership working, flood investigations and other functions of the LLFA as required. The post holder will also respond to enquiries from customers, stakeholders and developers and provide general advice internally and externally.

The Candidate

The successfully appointed Technical Flood Risk Officer will have the following skills and abilities:

           An excellent communicator with great influencing skills able to build exceptional working relationships across all levels.

           Suitably qualified to degree level.

           Understanding of Procurement and Financial Regulations.

           Fully experienced with CAD with respect to Highway Design.

           Act independently on technical matters flood risk management.

           Confident in challenging unacceptable Health & Safety behaviour.

           Valid driving licence (to travel between sites).
