6 MONTH SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY

Based at the Visitor Information Centre in Wrexham City Centre 

The City Centre, Arts & Events team are looking to appoint a self-motivated, commercially driven manager to join a busy team.  The Visitor Information Centre are based on Chester Street in Wrexham City Centre, the centre offers an unrivalled level of tourism information about the County Borough, along with a strong retail offer featuring local food & drink, crafts and merchandise and the ability to stage small events that benefit local producers and the hospitality trade.

The post holder will oversee the commercial operation of the center, manage a small team of customer-facing staff, work with and identify new lines of retail, devise pop-up events that complement the retail offer, develop relationships with local producers and stakeholders and work with the City Centre, Arts & Events and Tourism teams to ensure that the centre delivers  its aims and objectives.

You will be expected to also help deliver initiatives to support the wider recovery and ongoing growth of the tourism trade over the forthcoming years and assist in the delivery of our tourism strategy and associated projects to increase footfall and spend in the visitor centre and city.

The successful candidate will:

-       Have a strong commercial background within a retail environment.

-       Have a wide knowledge of the city centre and Wrexham County Borough tourism offering.

-       Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and communicate well with the team, local hospitality businesses, the public, partners, and elected members.

-       Have a flexible, collaborative approach and be willing to work some weekends and evenings depending on the needs of the business.
