We are pleased to offer you a unique and exciting opportunity to become the leader of St Mary’s Brymbo VA school. This will be a truly rewarding role in a community renowned within the Wrexham area for its deep industrial heritage and which is going through significant regeneration investment and expansion.

The role will be focussed initially on building upon the incredible efforts of current teaching and management staff over the past few years in restoring the school into a strong education establishment. There has been a recent consultation on increasing the pupil capacity from 154 to 210, with the potential to increase further to 315 if required as a result of future housing developments. The increase in capacity is pending decision by Wrexham Council’s Executive Board (final decision to be taken in September 2024 and the increase in capacity, if approved, would take effect from September 2025). The candidate must have the commitment to inspire the whole school; both the children in maintaining high standards and respecting our Christian ethos, as well as our experienced and dedicated staff, whilst at all times appreciating the distinct heritage of this unique village school.

The school prides itself on warmth of the supportive educational and learning experience we offer to pupils, nurturing their individual talents and personalities to become the best version of themselves. As a Christian school we maintain strong links with the diocesan team and are fully supported by our local pastoral team in maintaining the spiritual health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff.

We have an active Resource Provision centre and wrap-around childcare that was introduced in September 2023.  We have our own minibus; a fantastic resource in enabling our agility to provide frequent learning opportunities and experiences to pupils away from the school site.

We maintain strong community links with the Brymbo Heritage Centre and their ongoing project work, which results in many opportunities for learning and development for our pupils.  We are actively engaged with GwE and ensure regular visits and exchanges of ideas take place in ensuring that current best practice is disseminated to our staff on a regular basis. The school management promotes an ethos in the investment of lifelong learning and training for our staff, ensuring they are empowered to deliver the highest standards of learning to our pupils.

We have highly motivated children, dedicated staff, supportive parents and a committed forward thinking and active governing body.

The Governors of St. Mary’s invite a serving Headteacher or an experienced practitioner holding an NPHQ qualification to apply for the position.
