We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced registration officer to take up the post of Registrar / Assistant Team Leader within Registration.

The Registration service sits within the Governance and Customer Services function which is focused on improving and transforming how we deliver services to our customers.  The Council is embarking on a period of investment in our Registration service, which is not only a high profile and fundamental service that we provide, but it comes with a significant responsibility to deliver a high performing, high quality service that deals with some of the most important life events of our customers - births, deaths and marriages.  We are looking to appoint an Assistant Team Leader to support the Registration Services Team Leader / Superintendent Registrar.  Wrexham County Borough Council is a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to the recruitment and continued employment of people with disabilities.

About the role:
You will be assist with the management and development of the Council’s Registration Services and you will provide a high quality, customer-focused service across this function.  You will assist the Team Leader and support Registration Services ensuring the relevant statutory function and obligations are delivered and monitored in accordance with current legislation.  This will include functions such as registration of births, deaths, stillbirths, marriages and civil partnerships; as well as taking notices of marriages and civil partnerships, ceremony provision and associated registration duties.
You will communicate effectively with customers, partners, employees and elected councillors, recognising the sensitive nature of your service area.  Alongside the Team Leader, you will be instrumental in leading change within the service at a time when the regulatory framework is under review by the GeneralRegister Office.
You’ll be part of a team that relies on each individual to play their part to the best of their ability.  You’ll show initiative, be adaptable to change and put forward ideas to help improve delivery and efficiency, whilst maintaining the highest levels of customer service.  You will need to be flexible and willing to provide the services needed at the time they are needed.

About you:
You will be a credible, customer focussed and creative team member. Tact and diplomacy are essential as you will recognise the sensitive nature of your role when dealing with customers, stakeholders and staff.  You will have the skills to support the Team Leader to drive through change and continuous improvement.  You will be great at planning ahead, demonstrate knowledge of statutory, regulatory, strategic and key operational issues to develop the service and drive up the council’s performance, both in terms of business processing and customer experience, as well as meeting our national targets and regulatory compliance. 

You must hold a full and valid driving licence and be prepared to travel between multiple sites across Wrexham County Borough.

A standard DBS is required for this role.
