Job Description:

Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking three skilled and dedicated Painters & Decorators to join our Responsive & Planned Repairs Team. The successful candidates will be responsible for emergency repairs, general repairs, and planned maintenance for tenanted properties within the borough.

Key Responsibilities:

           Painting & Decorating: Carry out day-to-day painting and decorating maintenance and refurbishment works in tenanted properties, including preparatory work, undercoating, and glossing.

           Project Coordination: Undertake new installation works and remedial repairs as required.

           Multi-Skilled Tasks: Perform a range of cross-trade multi-skilling tasks as needed.

           Documentation: Accurately complete all related paperwork and electronic documentation.

           Mentorship: Mentor apprentices, trainees, or other employees as assigned, and participate in training and development programs.

           Resource Management: Maintain a stock of materials and equipment within the provided Council vehicle.

           Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work complies with current health and safety regulations and standards.

           Customer Communication: Work within the pre-allocated appointment system, liaise directly with tenants, planners, site agents, and managers to ensure effective coordination of appointments.

           Diagnostic Work: Carry out pre-inspection and diagnostic work to complete repairs efficiently.

           Problem Solving: Make decisions on repair requirements and seek advice for issues not identified in original orders.

           Additional Duties: Perform other relevant duties as directed by the site agent or manager.

Requirements:

           Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or City and Guilds in Painting and Decorating. A full valid driving licence is essential.

           Experience: Proven experience in painting and decorating maintenance work, particularly in tenanted residential properties.

           Skills: Competency in a range of multi-skilling disciplines, excellent customer care, and commitment to health and safety.

           Communication: Ability to communicate effectively, including in Welsh (desirable).

Desirable:

           Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 or Advanced City and Guilds in Painting and Decorating, current CSCS Card.
