Welcome to Wrexham!
Situated on the North East Wales border, Wrexham has a vibrant centre, is surrounded by rural villages and includes the World Heritage site, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Wrexham town has recently been granted City status and currently has a number of ongoing regeneration initiatives.
The post is based within the Public Protection service in the Food & Farming Team, comprising Food Hygiene & Standards, Health and Safety and Animal Health.
The Council is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Environmental Health Professional with practical experience of Food Hygiene and Food Standards. The successful applicant will have carried out inspections of food premises to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, experience investigating service requests relating to food premises, following up notifications of infectious diseases and carrying out sampling in accordance with the food law code of practice.
You will work as part of the team of officers to ensure the authority fulfils its statutory obligations relating to food law enforcement. As agile working is part of the service there is flexibility in the way work is carried out (flexibleworking, working from a variety of locations, home working, mobile working, etc).
The successful applicant will hold one of the baseline qualifications set out in the Food Law Code of Practice (Wales) and be able to demonstrate full competence in the areas of food law enforcement covered by the role. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
The Council will support your continued professional development and encourage you to play a key role in the future development of the service.
We offer casual user car allowance and operate a Work Life Balance scheme. Hybrid/agile working between office and home is encouraged.
In addition relocation expenses are payable in approved cases.
