Wrexham County Borough Council have an exciting opportunity within our Assessment Intervention team as a social worker. 

We are seeking an individual who is committed to the outcomes of children and young people, who is anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive and will advocate for children and young people. You will need to be motivated and have good assessment skills if this sounds like you we would really like to hear from you.

Wrexham is a rewarding place to workwe have various hours available, all offered on permanent contracts. In return, youwill receive a competitive salary of £37,035 - £39,513 per annum, an attractive local authority pension, progression and development to experienced social worker, provided certain criteria is met, plus a Recruitment Incentive payment of £2,996.

Why join the Assessment Intervention Team as a Children’s Social Worker?

The Assessment and Intervention Team is a Social Work Team that undertake comprehensive assessments with families who may be experiencing difficulties. The team also complete all initial child protection inquiries into the department and asses the family. Throughout their work AIT are committed to promoting positive outcomes for the young people and families with whom they work. We work hard to keep families together but take steps when necessary to secure the immediate and longer term safety of children.  

We regularly hold team lunches and celebrate events, from birthdays and anniversaries to maternity leave and staff promotions. We are proactive in the department in creating a sense of community and regularly hold fundraising events to help local and special causes. We value our team members and the hard work that they put into the continuum development and progress of the team. We have regular team meetings, supervision and the very important informal discussions. These allow staff to decompress and emotionally support each other by talking about any difficult cases they encounter.

This role supports hybrid working, a broadly even balance between working from home and working from an office base.

This Social worker post in the Assessment & Intervention attracts a recruitment incentive payment of £2,996 as a welcome to the Council. 

The payment is pro rata for part time employees. The payment is subject to normal employee deductions e.g. pension, NI and Tax and other terms and conditions apply, please see the Recruitment & Retention Payment Guidance note for more details.
