Interim Chief Executive 

As you will be aware Ian Bancroft is leaving the Authority and a report to Council on 20 November agreed to appoint an interim Chief Executive (Head of Paid Service) pending the selection of a permanent replacement. 

A politically balanced Appointments Committee has been established to assess and select the interim candidate and this Committee has Council’s delegated authority to appoint to the interim role.

The interim role is anticipated to be in place for a minimum of 6 months and until a permanent replacement is appointed and is able to commence their post subject to Council decisions.

The salary range for the role is £134,732 to £153,519.

The current job description for the position is attached for reference.  It is expected that the interim position will oversee and ensure the continued momentum of progress on the Council Plan, its current priorities, improvement priorities and the Change Programme.

Candidates’ suitability will be assessed with reference to their supporting statements.   The Appointments Committee will meet on the week commencing 9 December to shortlist candidates to invite to interview.   Interviews will be held on week commencing 16 December 2024.
