Description
G05 - £25,584 - £26,409 per annum
We are looking for a suitably motivated; reliable; customer focused caretaker/handyperson, to join our Strategic Assets Team to assist in the day-to-day management of the Councils’ Commercial Estate, providing an on-site presence and point of contact for tenants/contractors.
The role of Caretaker/Handyperson is varied and can be very rewarding. You will be responsible for the upkeep of the Estates, ensuring that they are clean; well-maintained; of good visual standard and a safe place for all tenants; contractors; staff and visitors.
You will carry-out weekly inspections across all sites ensuring all communal areas are clean and tidy, including bin compounds and that parking and grassed areas are free from litter/rubbish. Inspection of drains; gullies and gutters will also be carried out, so as to ensure that all areas are free from flood risk.
You will be able to carry-out minor maintenance repairs; assist with meter readings and carry-out regulatory safety checks, ensuring adequate records are maintained. You will also liaise with colleagues across various departments to report repairs; nuisance or anti-social behaviour, whilst also monitoring contractors on-site, including aspects of the landscape maintenance contract.
The ideal candidate will be self-sufficient and be able to work effectively and efficiently across all sites, managing their own workload/time as required. Holding a full UK driving Licence, this post will be provided with a works vehicle in line with the occupational road risk policy. You will also be provided with all required training and PPE, so as to ensure that personal safety is maintained at all times.
The Council welcomes applications from suitably qualified candidates, regardless of race; gender; disability; sexuality; religious belief or age.
The Council is committed to developing its bilingual workforce and welcomes applications from candidates who demonstrate their capability to work in both English and Welsh. Applications submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.
