INOCOME MAXIMISATION UNIT: WELFARE RIGHTS OFFICER
GO8 £33,366 - £36,124
37 Hours per week
Temporary to 31 March 2026
We are recruiting for an experienced Welfare Rights Officer, based within the Income Maximisation Unit of the Finance Department. The post will be located in the Lambpit Street office with home working. The postholder will work with a wide range of clients, with an emphasis on those who are receiving support from social services or Families First.
You must be able to:
- Identify potential benefit entitlement including better off calculations and assist clients with claims.
- Work to AQS Quality Mark standards.
- Be able to advocate effectively for clients including representing at appeal tribunals.
- Understand the importance of welfare rights work and the role of the Welfare Rights Team within the Council
- Show the qualities of confidentiality, tact and patience
- Have experience of providing support to a range of client groups
- Be able to provide advice in a variety of settings; telephone, internet, office and home visiting.
- Work as part of a team.
