 If so, look no further...

Social Care is looking to appoint up to three people on a traineeship to become an Occupational Therapist. This will include a fully funded sponsorship to study for a BSC Degree in Occupational Therapy, with a guaranteed job as an Occupational Therapist at the end.
This is part of the department's drive to grow its own social care professionals.

The Occupational Therapy course is four years of part time study at Wrexham University, starting January 2026. During this time you will be employed as a Social Care Assessor (SCA) in the Occupational Therapy service and required to commit be in university or study 2 days a week. On successfully completing the traineeship you will be appointed as an Occupational Therapist.

Our Occupational Therapy Team works with cases ranging from elderly reablement to young people with disabilities. We continue to invest in our service, with a staffing structure that supports career progression and continued professional development including offering this traineeship.

If you are motivated and enthusiastic about continually improving services for older people, vulnerable adults, children, young people and their families, then we can offer you regular supervision and support, together with opportunities for personal development and training to enable you to provide a high quality service.
Support will be given for those with less experience to develop their skills and competencies.

Successful candidates will require a broad knowledge base of community, health and social care services and be expected to demonstrate strong communication skills and a high level of problem solving skillsand creativity.

These posts require qualifications in Social Care to QCF Level 4 or equivalent in Health and Social Care (or QCF Level 3 with commitment to obtain Level 4 qualification or equivalent) and are subject to an Enhanced DBS check. 

To undertake the degree you will also need as a minimum GCSE grades A-C (or the equivalent) in Maths and either English or Welsh (first language), 112 UCAS tariff points, along with evidence of recent study to meet the university entry requirements. Candidates are encouraged to make an application to the university alongside applying for the position as Social Care Assessor.

Interviews will take place on the 30th June 2025 and the 1st July 2025

The closing date is Sunday 15th June.
