Adult Safeguarding and Mental Health
Salary - £65,169 - £69,204
Full time 37 hours permanent position.
Based in Crown Building Wrexham.
This is a leadership role and is critical in ensuring Wrexham Council develops and delivers high quality services; achieving positive, measurable outcomes for the people we support. The Head of Service Post will strategically lead, direct and manage three key service areas. Including the Adult Safeguarding Service, Mental Health and Well-being Services and Single Point of Access Services.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work within complex and dynamic environments; where strategic thinking, strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, along with clear goal setting and a positive change management approach. You will ensure services are implemented, and are delivered effectively and efficiently.
You will be required to undertake:
ï§ Strategic leadership responsibility for Adult Safeguarding including DoLS, providing leadership and management to ensure compliance with legislation and regulation. Working collaboratively with internal and external colleagues on developing interagency multidisciplinary safeguarding cultures. Implementing the organisations strategic policies and procedures.
ï§ Strategic lead for the council’s Mental Health and Well-being Services including services into HMP Berwyn, the role involves strategic planning and setting the direction for the service, building strong working relationships with health and other partner organisations. Promoting and implementing an independence approach to mental health services.
ï§ Leadership and management of the Adults Single Point of Access service, the role involves strategic oversight of SPoA, identifying and implementing service developments and improvements, ensuring prevention focus and compliance with Information, Advice and Assistance (IAA) and referral management. A problem solving approach is needed, along with maintaining excellent communication and working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
Accountable to Senior Head of Adult Social Care, you will oversee three key services with a lead on prevention for Adults; you will manage three direct reports and be responsible for a budget of circa £7m. You will have:
• A deep understanding, experience and knowledge of leading social care services, understanding social work principles and practice with an in-depth knowledge of key legislation including the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act .
• Experience of leading, and managing change, with the ability to analyse complex situations, identify problems and develop solutions.
• Experience of leading, managing and motivating staff teams.
• Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with teams, other stakeholders, and the public.
• In depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation.
• A thorough understanding of mental health services.
• A deep understanding of the work of Single Point of Access and IAA services.
• The ability to use data to support decision making, along with a good understanding of budget management.
