Description

Wrexham County Borough Council
Lawyer (childcare Team)
G11 - £44,711-£47,754 Per Annum
37 hours a week
Wrexham County Borough Council is looking to recruit an experienced Childcare Lawyer to join their existing team of Lawyers.
As Childcare Lawyer you will join the already existing team of lawyers; the team is a small but friendly team. You will also benefit from the skills and support of two paralegals for the team.
As Childcare Lawyer you will work directly advising the social care department in relation to the legal safeguarding of children. No two days are the same and you will need to be adaptable and flexible and prepared to react to difficult and pressurised situations. You will be able to provide robust and risk-assessed advice and expect a varied and challenging caseload. The ability to multi-task and work collaboratively as a team is essential.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in childcare or family law, and ideally have local authority experience. However, candidates from private practice who have solid understanding of public law are encouraged to apply, too. The Council uses an electronic case management system and so good IT skills are a must.
You will be a qualified Solicitor/Barrister/Legal Executive (with litigation advocacy rights) with a current Practising Certificate.
A pro-active, flexible and strategic approach to work is vital.  In return we can offer you an opportunity to work in a fast paced, friendly, working environment and you will be part of a service which encourages development.   You will be able to work in an agile way and be supported to develop your practice.
At Wrexham Council, we value our employees and offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional development. When you join our workforce, you can look forward to:
·       Up to 32 days annual leave per annum.
·       flexible and hybrid working options and could also gain ‘flexi-days’, building up time to take off by working when there are peaks in the service.
·       Local Government Pension Scheme.
·       Reward and Benefit Scheme.
·       Training and Development Opportunities.
·       Employee Assistance Program and Well-being initiatives.
·       Cycle to Work Scheme.
·       Reduced rate Leisure membership.
·       Detailed induction programme
